Charles Saatchi's website is selling paintings of him strangling Nigella Lawson

The paintings are selling for up to €21,958.

AN ART WEBSITE owned by collector Charles Saatchi is flogging paintings of the moment he was pictured throttling then-wife Nigella Lawson.

On SaatchiArt.com, any artist can set up a profile and begin selling art on the site – but a trend has emerged of artists adding their interpretations of the controversial paparazzi photographs.

Last year, the art collector was photographed with his hands around Lawson’s neck during an argument outside a restaurant in London. The couple divorced in November.

The artworks above range in price from €184 to €21,958.

If a painting sells, the artist receives 70% of the money, while Saatchi Art takes 30%.

Chief curator of Saatchi Art, Rebecca Wilson, told the Daily Mail they would not be taking down the artworks:

Saatchi Art does not believe in censorship unless the material is pornographic or incites racial hatred.

Saatchi himself had this to say to the newspaper:

Would it have been a better story if I had censored artists whose work might be personally disobliging?
